The overarching goal of the Paediatric Diabetes Network (PDN) is to ensure the best possible health outcomes for children and youth with diabetes in Ontario.
The PDN is comprised of 35 specialized paediatric diabetes education programs (PDEPs); there are currently five tertiary-level PDEPs located in Toronto, Ottawa, London, Hamilton and Kingston, and 30 secondary-level PDEPs located in communities across the province. PDEPs are comprised of multidisciplinary teams of nurses, dietitians and social workers working with paediatricians, paediatric endocrinologists and/or family physicians, who provide comprehensive care to children and youth with diabetes in Ontario.

PCMCH coordinates the PDN, fostering system alignment and improvement, promoting consistency in standards of practice, providing professional development opportunities, supporting links between PDEPs, and facilitating the development and dissemination of resources and guidelines.

Paediatric Diabetes Registry (ongoing)
High-quality, comprehensive data are crucial to help us better understand, monitor, and address discrepancies in paediatric diabetes care and health outcomes across Ontario. In partnership with BORN Ontario, PCMCH is working to create a Paediatric Diabetes Registry, with implementation (roll-out) across the province expected in 2026.
