Paediatric Diabetes Network

The Paediatric Diabetes Network (PDN) was established in 2001 and has been coordinated by the Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health (PCMCH) since 2013. In this role, PCMCH fosters system alignment and improvement; promotes consistency in standards of practice; provides professional development opportunities, supports links between paediatric diabetes education programs (PDEPs); and facilitates the development and dissemination of resources and guidelines.

The PDN is comprised of 35 PDEPs located primarily in hospitals and community health centres across Ontario. Comprehensive diabetes education and care is provided at PDEPs by multidisciplinary teams, largely consisting of registered nurses, registered dietitians, registered social workers, paediatricians, and paediatric endocrinologists.

The overarching goal of PDN is to ensure the best possible health outcomes for children and youth living with diabetes in Ontario.
