PCMCH Maternal-Newborn Committee Seeking Patient and Family Advisors

Have you used pregnancy, newborn or post-pregnancy care services in Ontario within the last five years? Are you interested in helping make a difference in the care provided to pregnant people and babies in Ontario?

If you answered “yes” to the questions above, we encourage you to apply to be a Patient and Family Advisor on the Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health (PCMCH)’s Maternal-Newborn Committee!

What Is the Maternal-Newborn Committee?

The Maternal-Newborn Committee (MNC) provides leadership to improve care for pregnant people and newborns in Ontario and ensures that care is well-organized, high quality and fair for everyone. The MNC’s goal is to make Ontario the best place for childbirth with the safest and highest quality care possible. MNC members include healthcare providers, administrators and policy makers who represent a variety of disciplines and geographical areas across the province. As a Patient and Family Advisor, you will inform efforts aimed at improving patient experience and the quality of perinatal and newborn services.

What We’re Looking For

We know your experience with perinatal and newborn care is different than that of healthcare providers and policy makers. Your perspective is important, and we want to make sure it is considered in the work of the MNC.

We are looking for 2-3 Patient and Family Advisors to join the MNC starting in January 2025. We hope you’ll consider applying to be a Patient and Family Advisor if you:

  • Have personal experience with pregnancy, newborn or post-pregnancy care services in Ontario within the last five years
  • Are passionate about improving care and patient experiences
  • Can provide valuable feedback and insights based on your experience

What Is Expected of You

The MNC will meet virtually at least four times a year. Patient and Family Advisors are expected to serve a three-year term. This is a volunteer position. Patient and Family Advisors are provided an honorarium in appreciation of their time and contributions.

How to Apply

Please submit the online application survey along with a PDF of your resume by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024.
