New PCMCH Resources on RSV Prevention for Infants and High-Risk Children

PCMCH is pleased to share two new fact sheets on the prevention of RSV in infants and high-risk children. These resources, available in English and French on the PCMCH website, provide valuable information and guidance to support the fall 2024 launch of the expanded infant and high-risk children RSV prevention program in Ontario.

1. Fact Sheet for Healthcare Providers
The fact sheet for healthcare providers (English | French) includes key information about what has changed this year with Ontario’s RSV prevention program for infants and high-risk children, efficacy, administration and dosing information regarding the medication, as well as discussion points to raise with parents. This tool is intended to support providers to successfully protect infants and high-risk children from RSV.

2. Fact Sheet for Parents and Expectant Parents
The fact sheet for parents and expectant parents (English | French) includes essential tips and recommendations for safeguarding infants and high-risk children from RSV, with a focus on the monoclonal antibody medication. Providers are encouraged to offer their pregnant patients, parents and families this fact sheet to equip them with key information to support their decision-making around RSV prevention.

You can download the English and French versions of the fact sheets from our RSV webpage. On this webpage, you will find a curated list of other reliable resources for healthcare providers and parents/expectant parents related to RSV prevention for infants and high-risk children.

PCMCH is grateful for the contributions of clinicians, parents with lived experience, and other subject matter experts to the development of these resources.

The burden of RSV on infants and high-risk children is significant. It will take our collective efforts to reach all eligible infants and high-risk children in Ontario. We encourage you to review these materials and share them with your networks to enhance awareness of the RSV prevention program among parents and providers.
