PCMCH supports the health of people from pregnancy through to postpartum, as well as newborns, through the work of the Perinatal-Newborn Committee (PNC). The PNC’s work aims to develop a care system that delivers timely, equitable, evidence-based, accessible, high-quality and family-centred care that is efficient and effective, and to make Ontario the best place to give birth.
PCMCH’s perinatal and newborn health initiatives support both community and hospital settings, and recognize the differences in healthcare delivery in urban, rural and remote parts of the province. The PNC works closely with several PCMCH sub-committees that focus on specific elements of perinatal and newborn care, as well as system partners, care provider organizations and regional networks to fulfill its mandate.
