Bringing the voice of families and patients to our initiatives is an essential component of achieving patient- and family-centred care. Families and patients bring their lived experiences and innovative solutions to help us improve design and service delivery of the Ontario maternal and child healthcare system. Family and provider stakeholders have commended PCMCH for engaging families in our work through patient focus groups, advisory committees and working groups. Recognizing there is still a journey ahead to further integrate families and patients in our work, we are confident that together with our stakeholders we will get there.

Did you know?
One of the areas where families and patients have been actively involved at PCMCH is the Integrated Complex Care Advisory Committee, its related work groups and provincial symposia that preceded the Complex Care for Kids Ontario initiative. Through the active engagement and participation of parents of children with medical complexity and a youth advisor, we were able to create helpful tools to support integrated care and coordination for children with medical complexity across the province.
